Art is about creating an emotional response in one’s
audience.
But art is also about the intellectual, the learning and
growing process.
My goal is to destroy the traditional definitions of abstract
expressionism and minimalism by taking my emotional abstract
expressionist paintings, cutting them up and reassembling
them in a new way that continues to hold the emotional of
abstract expressionism as well as deal with the simpler lines
and forms of minimalism.

My goal is to extend and straddle the emotional
and the intellectual.
My finished paintings are emotional, focused on colour, stroke,
and texture as well as intellectual, utilizing squares of
solid colour, found objects, sewing and weaving of bands of
cloth into a minimalist grid.
This combination and juxtaposition of expressionism banded
by minimal space is an experimentation that turns emotional
work into something more intellectual without losing the initial
feelings.
This new restructuring and combining of emotional and intellectual
is an ongoing process.
